The Brașov Marathon, one of Romania's premier mountain running events, is praised for its scenic trail routes, excellent organization, and vibrant atmosphere centered around Piața Sfatului. Creating a strong visual identity for such a highly rated event is both a challenge and an inspiration.
We started our BvM journey as supporters for Cornel, the Urban Gemini financial wizard and a passionate runner. Experiencing an event as a participant gives you real-world insight and helps you design a more intuitive and resonant visual identity. Then, we pitched in pro-bono for specific digital materials and later worked with them to refresh their look for the 14th edition, highlighting the continued growth of the competition.
Combining high-energy visuals, clear information and cohesive branding across print and digital platforms is essential when designing for a marathon. We focused on key elements such as contrasting colors and overlapping shapes to convey movement and excitement but also strong, minimalist fonts to ensure readability from a distance.
